Therapy Dog 2- Equipment and Tricks

with Becky and Todd Kier

$140

This class is the second step in our therapy dog training program and is designed to build confidence, adaptability, and engagement as teams continue preparing for real-world visits.

In this class, we focus on helping dogs become comfortable and confident around the types of equipment they are likely to encounter in nursing homes and hospital settings. Dogs will be introduced to and work around items such as walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids, learning to remain calm, appropriate, and responsive while navigating these environments.

We will also incorporate fun, interactive tricks that can be used during visits to create meaningful and engaging experiences for the people your dog will serve. These tricks are designed to be both entertaining and practical, helping your dog connect with individuals in a positive and memorable way.

This class continues to build on the foundation established in Therapy Dog 1 and further develops your dog’s ability to work comfortably in a variety of situations with different types of people.

This is the second class in our three-part therapy dog training series. Dogs must have completed Therapy Dog 1 and passed the CGC Test prior to enrolling.

This is a 4 week class. Class is limited to 8 dogs. Class is held indoors at Scudder Campus in Wimberley.

Please do not bring dogs on any all-metal collars, including choke or pinch collars. Harnesses, head halters, regular collars, and martingale collars are all welcome.

Motivation is essential to effective training. Please bring bite-sized, high-value treats to class. Treats your dog enjoys at home may not be valuable enough in a group setting. Favorites include cheese, chicken, hot dogs, and meatballs. Variety is encouraged so you can mix in lower-value treats as needed. If your dog enjoys toys, feel free to bring those as well.

Important: Registration is per dog. Please only add one person when registering. Multiple people may attend with one dog at no additional charge. Adding additional people during registration will result in full registration fees per person.
