Foundation Manners 2

$140

with Becky and Todd Kier

Calendar May 23, 2026 at 10 am, runs for 4 weeks

Continue to teach your dogs the foundations they need on their way to acheiving impecable manners!

Foundation Manners 2 is a continuation of manners learned in Foundation Manners 1 (basic manners with impulse control & relationship-building exercises. Along with "sit," "down," and "wait" we also focus on redirection techniques, loose-leash walking, "come when called" & "leave it." This is a chance to solidfy and polish those manners.)

This is a 4 week class. Class is limited to 8 dogs.  Class is at Scudder Campus in Wimberley, indoors and air conditioned!

If you have not attended class with us before, please review our theory and essential info via YouTube, you will receive the link upon registration. We will explain some basics of dog training, discuss equipment and management techniques to help you get the most out of class. Former students are welcome to attend for a refresher as well.

Please do not bring dogs on all metal collars including choke and pinch collars.  Harnesses, head halters, regular or martingale collars are all welcome.

Motivating your dog is essential to good training!  Please bring bite-sized, high-value treats to class. Treats your dog likes at home may not be good enough for class.  Some all time favorites are cheese, chicken, hot dogs and meatballs.  Variety is good so you can mix in lower value treats with the good stuff.  If your dog loves toys you can bring them as well.

Important- when registering, please only add one person to the registration.  Registration is per dog.  Multiple people can attend with one dog at no extra charge, however, if you add additional people to the registration, you will be charged $140 for each person.

Scent Games with Becky

$140

with Becky Kier

Calendar Jun 3, 2026 at 3 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Todd’s away, so Becky (that's me) will play!!. This class will bring a playful twist to scent work for teams I already know and love working with.

I'm also excited to participate along side you with my dogs! We are keepin the class small so you’ll be able to observe, learn, and apply techniques in real time as we work through exercises together.

In addition to our regular hides, we’ll spend time working with the scent wheel to refine and strengthen your dog’s alert or indication behavior. This is a great way to build clarity and consistency in how your dog communicates their alert with you.

We’ll also focus on container searches and choice-based games to increase drive, improve decision-making, and elevate overall performance. These exercises are designed to keep your dog engaged, thinking, and working with purpose.

Class is limited to 5 dogs.

Prerequisite: Dogs must have completed Nosework 101 with us prior to enrolling.

Come join me and help me have fun while Todd is away.

Tricks with Becky

$140

with Becky Kier

Calendar Jun 3, 2026 at 4 pm, runs for 4 weeks

While Todd’s away, I’m (Becky) teaching the classes I want to take this June! I love trick training, I love training my own dogs and I don't do enough of either. So, I hope you join me in this class, I'm looking forward to it more than most.

In this class, my dogs will be working alongside you as they each learn a brand-new trick in real time. You’ll get to watch the process, then follow along and teach your dog the same tricks step-by-step.

Here’s some video of what we’ll be working toward:

Fun for All – Spatula Trick https://youtube.com/shorts/lUiWeVBRIno?si=289Aby0mqYMleQyl

River – Suitcase Trick https://youtube.com/shorts/mP_rsN8d1I4?si=7l73wcvh3aKcADzg

Shine – Blow Bubbles https://youtube.com/shorts/a1W2U6e13pA?si=4GZi3OTlwxlBJCae

Willow – Take a Selfie https://youtube.com/shorts/c9MLd8wDn2Q?si=y4Pvygf9wQWegpcZ

As time allows, we’ll layer in additional tricks and build on each dog’s strengths. I also have toddler basketball hoops available—my dogs already know how to dunk, but I’m happy to help you teach it to yours.

This class is all about building communication, confidence, and connection through tricks. This is not a beginner class. It is designed for those with experience in multiple FCI classes. We will use a lot of shaping, requiring your dog to understand either a marker word like "yes" or a clicker.

Class is limited to 5 dogs.

Come join me for a fun and creative training experience, hoping this class helps me miss him a little less!

AKC Canine Good Citizen/ Therapy Dog 1

$200

with Becky and Todd Kier

Calendar Jul 8, 2026 at 5:30 pm, runs for 6 weeks

If you have a solid start on your foundation manners, this class will guide you and your dog toward passing the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test while taking your first step into therapy dog work with Freedom Canines.

The CGC is a 10-skill evaluation that reflects real-world manners and responsible dog ownership. In this class, we will build reliability and confidence in your dog’s ability to navigate everyday situations with calm, controlled behavior. Dogs are evaluated on their acceptance of friendly strangers, polite greetings, comfort around other dogs, response to distraction, supervised separation, and core skills including sit, down, stay, come, and loose-leash walking.

This class is more than test preparation. It is the foundation for therapy dog training. We place a strong emphasis on helping dogs feel comfortable and confident in a variety of settings, while building positive, appropriate interactions with all types of people and other dogs. These are key qualities for dogs who will go on to support others in nursing homes and hospitals. There will be extensive greeting practice and real-life scenario work to help your dog succeed.

To become a therapy dog with Freedom Canines, dogs must complete a three-class series. This is the first step, and all dogs must pass the CGC Test before continuing in the program.

You can view full test requirements here: https://www.akc.org/products-services/training-programs/canine-good-citizen/

During the final class, we will offer the official CGC Test. Teams that pass will be registered with AKC and receive an official certificate (additional $20 fee).

This class is also an excellent option for those looking to move beyond basic manners and develop more consistent, real-world reliability in their dog’s behavior.

To attend class, dogs must have a working foundation in sit, down, stay, and a good start on loose-leash walking. If you have not taken Foundation Manners with us, we may request a video of your dog demonstrating these skills prior to approval.

Please do not bring dogs on any all-metal collars, including choke or pinch collars. Harnesses, head halters, regular collars, and martingale collars are all welcome. Please note that dogs may not test on a head halter for the official CGC evaluation.

Motivation is essential to effective training. Please bring bite-sized, high-value treats to class. Treats your dog enjoys at home may not be valuable enough in a group setting. Favorites include cheese, chicken, hot dogs, and meatballs. Variety is encouraged so you can mix in lower-value treats as needed. If your dog enjoys toys, feel free to bring those as well.

Class runs for 6 weeks, including 5 instructional classes and a final class where the CGC Test is offered. Class is held indoors at Scudder Campus in Wimberley.

If you have not attended class with us before, please contact us prior to registering to ensure this class is the right fit for your team.

Important: Registration is per dog. Please only add one person when registering. Multiple people may attend with one dog at no additional charge. Adding additional people during registration will result in full registration fees per person.
